Steam Days - about miniature railways
miniature railways
Show or Hide Description

Miniature Railways are those we remember from childhood visits to the seaside or similar tourist resorts. In fact, there are more miniature railways than any other type.

Typically, the tracks of a miniature railway are only a few inches apart and drivers sit on rather than in the locomotive. Power might be by steam but, these days, while they will look like a steam engine, under the skin they are more likely to have a petrol or diesel engine.

In some cases, a miniature railway really is miniature. You will find tiny circuits in garden centres and private gardens throughout the country. These fantastic railways have you sitting astride the coaches and there's a much better chance that you'll be pulled along by steam.
