Blackpool & Fleetwood Tramway
Blackpool FY1 5DD
Blackpool & Fleetwood Tramway - Blackpool's tramway has been upgraded with track replaced, platforms upgraded and the purchase of 16 new trams. Some of the old fleet has been still operates between the Pleasure Beach and Cleveleys during the summer months.
Blackpool's tramway is operated by Blackpool Transport, which is pwned by the local authority. A four year project, costing £100m, was completed in April 2012, and saw the replacement of 11 miles of track, the creation of a new depot and the introduction of a fleet of 16 state-of-the-art trams. All of the principal tram stops were upgraded with low platforms, new shelters, lighting & seating. They now provide level access straight from the platform onto the tram. The old trams are a much loved and respected part of Blackpool and the Fylde Coast. A selection of the fleet has been retained and modified to ensure they can access the new tram stops. They operate between the Pleasure Beach and Cleveleys during the summer months.
