The East Midlands provides fans of standard gauge railways with a good choice of locations. The Great Central Railway, has tow - one at Loughborough and the other in Nottingham itself.
Northampton and Matlock each have two places to visit, with the Midland Railway near Ripley and the Barrow Hill Roundhouse Railway Centre in Chesterfield also offering a great day out.
Matlock and Ripley are also hosts to light railways, with Matlock's miniature railway and the National Tramway Museum giving them claim to a railway 'full house'!
Other museums can be found around the region, with a touch of the unusual available at the Abbey Pumping Station in Leicester.
